I am offering a black Friday sale in my etsy shop today! Buy one 81/2″x11″ print, get one free. Just purchase the first print and mention ‘Black Friday’ and which print you’d like to receive free in comments to seller. Also! I decided to offer my new painterly portraits a bit smaller (a bit more affordable) at 8″x8″ for $195. There is a long list of amazing sales, on really beautiful, handmade items over at poppytalk handmade, as well, Happy shopping!!!
I feel like I have an especially long list of things to be thankful for this year: kids that make me laugh so hard I cry, a husband that supports me in my near constant list of house ideas (and never complains that I leave my art supplies everywhere), I’m back in the saddle (getting back to horseback riding has been like rediscovering a part of myself I missed), being able to do what I love and make a living at it..and the list goes on.
I recently bought this antique sofa via craigs list. I probably won’t get to this ‘little’ project for a while, but I like planning and dreaming. I’m thinking of white fabric, I know, I know, white sofa+2 kids and 1 dog = bad idea. But I ordered some samples and have been trying my best to stain them, look coffee! If I’m honest, I spill, stain etc, just as much as the kids. I have the bad fortune of spilling my coffee, on the sofa, on a regular basis.
I just discovered Space. It “features the creative forces that make up Portland, Oregon and the spaces and places where they work.” I love taking a look inside where people work.
I just added several original paintings to my etsy shop and I am running a special! If you purchase any of the original pieces you will get an 8 1/2″x11″ print free. Just mention the print you’d like in the comments to seller at checkout.
Here are my current favorite gift ideas for guys:
Just a quick note to let you know there is still time to place a portrait order for holiday gift giving! I have been receiving questions about this and as I realize most of us are just now starting to think about gifts, I allow for a shorter turn a round (ie less sleep:) this time of year.
Really loving these images from the new issue of paper mache.
I noticed these (flowers?) in the backyard yesterday being blown to bits by the wind storm we had and decided to save them. Aren’t they beautiful?
I am now taking full and complete advantage of this blog by (not so subtly) posting my holiday wish list. Now, if my wonderful hubby just happens to read this post I have ever so helpfully included links to each one
Thank you to Stephanie Levy for interviewing me for her artists who blog series! Have a wonderful weekend, mine will include the last soccer games of the season (yay!) a little making and hopefully a lot of board games by the fire.
I am enjoying fall so much this year, that I feel a little guilty getting started on holiday shopping already. BUT, whenever I put it off, all the things Ive noted are gone by the time I feel ‘ready.’ So, here are some of my favorites for the kiddos this year. I especially love finding fun/unusual stocking stuffers, the stocking really is my favorite bit.
1. snow globe ring MOMA 2. the most addorable baby animal portraits EVER, Sharon Montrose 3. mechanical paper animals oh my cavalier 4. mechanical music box kit reform school 5. flying bat mobile velocity home
I am a messy painter, just am…
The kids are off school today (Veterans Day), so we will be joining George in a bit of a lay about.
A series of paintings I just started. I usually go through several love/hate stages with each new piece. The idea stage, honeymoon stage, not so much of a honeymoon, maybe it will work out stage, and hopefully the it’s done and I’m completely happy with it stage.

and a big thanks to Irene over at Bloesem for the shout out this morning!
The view through a window, an old sticker Ian put up that I never got around to peeling off and whole lot of rain.
I love it when my day starts with this…
I live in the city so horseback riding days also mean beautiful view days. It can’t not be a great day when it starts like this!
It feels a little early for this (though Target clearly disagrees), but I want this for christmas.
