book addiction

My name is Lisa and I have an art book addiction.  There are worse addictions to have, right?  At least that is what I keep telling myself.  So I thought I’d share a few of my recent favorites.

Contemporary Art Spaces is like driving around at night so you can see inside houses, but with art studios.  I can’t tell you how much I love this book.  Also, Painted On 21st Street, work by Helen Frankenthaler, is really lovely.

New!

I have added several new prints to my etsy store as well as new sizing options (I will be doing this to most of my existing prints as well over the next few days).  Each print is available as an 8″x8″, 12″x12″, 18″x18″ and 34″x34″.  Also, I added a portrait option in my etsy store which you can see here.

Also, the original paintings ‘Hazy Beach’ and ‘Assist’ will be up in my shop tomorrow!

upcoming show

goodeyeopen.jpg

I am excited to be part of an upcoming show in Los Angeles.  ‘Good Eye Open features over fifty original works of art presented salon style. Experimenting with the idea that artists at various points in their careers can co-exist in one space, this showcase brings together a collection of works from emerging and established artists, as well as mid-century gems rediscovered by curator Melinda Fay.’

If you are in the LA area, I hope you can go take a peak for me, it is for a great cause.  The show opens this Saturday! Profits from Good Eye Open will benefit A Window Between Worlds, a nonprofit organization dedicated to using art to help end domestic violence. Donations to AWBW will directly support their Children’s Windows Program, which provides weekly art workshops to children and teens in domestic violence shelters, transitional housing, and outreach centers.

feeling summer

I finally scanned in some completed paintings.  One interpretation could be I’m ready for summer…

Loving…

this print I just purchased of a lone picnic table at the Salton Sea by Pinecone Camp.  I remember learning about the Salton Sea a few years ago after seeing this short film.  This image captures the strange beauty of this place.

happy friday!

friday2-28.jpg

There are just too many things to love about this image, I wish I had the original source (anyone know?).  While streaking into the forest is not on my list of plans this weekend, I’m sure we’ll come up with something.  Have a great weekend!  I am planning on adding several new originals to my shop next week, so stay tuned!

Obsessed With

Searching For Sugarman.  We watched it this past weekend and I can’t get it out of my mind.  The story of this man is beyond unbelievable (you couldn’t write this) and inspirational.  That a man could have such a huge impact on the world and never be aware of it really struck me.  See it, now!
