We went down to an apple/pear tasting today and it felt so good to get out as a healthy (non sickie) family. Caramel apples and streusel were had, though nothing compared to my grandmothers. Having a German grandmother who was an amazing cook sorta spoils any other German food for life.

king of the mountain
Do you remember this post showing a painting I had just started? Well here it is done! It changed quite a lot and I had to fight with it a bit, but those are the ones I usually end up liking the most. It will be available soon.
window shopping
I have a very sick kid at home (day 4 with super high temp=no fun, poor kid). So while we watch every Harry Potter movie (again, again and again) I have been sitting here finding all sorts of stuff I now want. The list includes:
adorable dress via lamixx (i will be wearing this a lot this fall with jeans/tights)
these books have been making there way around the web, I want them ALL!
and was so excited to see this now available in the US, here.

last days of summer
How we spent the last days of summer…horses, favorite urban park (with the cutest couple getting wedding shots taken, her dress and hair just killed me), watched the swifts, yummy lazy breakfasts, soccer and more soccer…
Now I’m ready for fall, are you?

feeling fall
The last few mornings have had a very fallish feel to them here. I really love the cooler temps (and even the rain). I love turning on lots of lamps, a few candles and getting to work. With the kids in school, I have tons of projects running around my brain waiting to get out. Thinking these are warmers are going to be my uniform once the cooler temps hit for good.

quiet house
First day back at school for the kids and I am basking in the quiet of the house. I am giddy having an entire day to work. The kids were super excited to get back, as well (first day nerves aside). Currently catching up on shipments, listening to music and smelling my favorite new candle, must go stock up.available here
doing what you love makes you smile
Monday is my new favorite day of the week. After years, and years, and years of dreaming of getting back to my first passion (some may say childhood obsession) I am once again riding horses (and maybe when I get my legs back under me, jumping). It took years of begging when I was a kid to get my parents to agree to let me take lessons. I rode for years and can’t really remember why I stopped, but it has always been there. The thing that someday, when the time is right I will do again. And now I am! And my legs hurt, like really hurt. I love it! What makes it even more exciting is that my daughter has started as well, so now we can bond over riding.image via jaytatone
art in real life
I so love seeing my art in its new home. I spotted my fabric eared bunny print in this crazy beautiful nursery the other day. Talk about crazy beautiful, follow the jump to see the beautiful little one it was created for.via estate of things
indulge me for a moment
If you visit me here regularly you may have noticed I am mildly obsessed with painting our hardwoods white. I am 99% sure I would love the result (hubby not quite as much). Talk of this is sacrilege to some and I’ve never seen it done in anyones home here despite our grey winters to which white floors seems a common remidy in Scandanavian countries. So, should I say, Ha! to convention and just deal with any possible consequenses if we ever sell, or play it safe?oh and that bench in the middle with those great legs is from an old high school locker room, here. Anyone in Seattle want to drive it down to me? (images via the gorgeous blog emmas blog)
what’s for dinner
I have just discovered my favorite cooking blog, eat make read. The recipes all look really, really good, but also really simple. I made three things from here this past weekend and can’t wait to make more. Deciding on dinner ideas in this house is like pulling teeth so I thought I’d share!
Surprise balls
The easter bunny brought the kids surprise balls a few years ago and I loved the concept but had sorta forgotten about them until I saw this post over at Uppercase this week. Brilliant. So while we were at the craft store the other day the kids found the cutest little wind up toys and my first thought was that they would be perfect in a surprise ball. The hunting down of all the little treasures was probably the most fun. Here are my finished surprise balls, now making their way to my three cute neices. Hope they like them! You can buy yourself one here, and they look to be very generously layered with goodies.
lemon
My new favorite afternoon snack is lemon curd on toast. It’s like instant dessert! And for dessert tonight, lemon curd blueberry tart, yummm.
