now in the shop

I just added my counting cards to my etsy store!  I took a few more photos today as the light is much better (aka not grey and rainy).

I can’t stop listening to this song.  It gets me going in the morning (something that has been hard to do this week with the time change).

my name is Lisa

and I have an addiction to chalkboard paint.  There I said it!  I can’t stop myself.  I just painted our powder room with the stuff.  Fun, no?

winter wonderland

We have an unusual amount of snow outside keeping us at home.  We are venturing out this morning to go downtown to visit Santa (wish us luck!).  We spent the better part of the day yesterday sledding and gave me the chance to finish up some holiday decorating.  Here are a few peeks around.

spirit

We have done a little decorating around here for the holidays, but I am waiting until I finish up all my orders before I really tackle it.  My favorite spot so far this year is the mantle.  I put these cute little toad stools under glass and wound this really lovely ribbon (from Martha Stewart at Michaels) with some lights.

cute shop

I just found my new favorite online shop that I can not purchase from.  Which, I suppose, is a good thing because I would be having a spending meltdown.  If you want to see beautiful product after beautiful product, go here, now and spend the next hour looking around.  sigh….

open house

Bloesem kids has an open house tour of Jenny of LMNOP fame that is really lovely.  I did a portrait of this lovely lady and her son for LMNOP’s most recent issue, so it was fun for me to take a peek around her home!

Framed Portraits!

I am now offering a framing option for my portraits, and these are gorgeous frames!  I am currently offering them in 8″x10″, 11″x14″ and 16″x20″ sizes.  Also, the below pics show a new portrait.  I used my son as the subject, well he and his ‘lumpy.’  This is his very well loved constant companion.   You can order one with your own child and their best bud here.  And while this paticular painting shows a boy, obviously girls have their best bud, too.  So, it is most definitely available as a portrait for a little girl.  This is probably a good time to say that these portraits make a wonderful holiday gift.  I will be taking orders for Christmas up until early December (but the sooner the better, right?).

premature party planning

We are a good 5 months off from our next kids party around here, but I found these this week and am filing them away for future use.

children’s rooms

are always a source of inspiration for me.  Pictures of a wonderful kid space can often be a starting point for me in terms of color and character.

Some of the most beautiful books of kid spaces are available over at the Yvestown blog.  There are several books in this Japanese series of European kids rooms.  What strikes me is the simplicity that runs through them.  There are no ‘theme rooms’ which seem to often plague US kids rooms, instead it’s beautiful toys and treasures that create unique and personal spaces.

kids spaces

I thought this was a fresh look for a child’s room via the current issue of Cookie magazine.  It got me thinking of ways to give my guys bed a little more personality.

and speaking of living with kids, take a look at this fun space, a refreshing home that doesn’t try for perfection (but ironically looks pretty darn close to me)

white and some more white

I’ve been really inspired recently by some beautiful home shots in blog land.  I’ve been particularly taken with all the white painted floors recently.  I did this in my daughter’s room, and I’ve always had floor envy.  I wish I could do this to all of our floors.  I’m thinking it would be especially nice come mid-January…

lots to share!

I have been working on these for a while now, weaving together different aspects of my work into a new line of children’s art.  I really love how they have turned out.  I have painted some charming little silhouettes onto wallpaper and mouted them onto these gorgeous wood panels.  They are available now on my website under wallpaper art, please take a peek!

these are a few of my favorite things…

So I thought I’d continue with a few peeks around our house and show some of my favorite things.  What struck me was that almost without exception they are all things that were either handed down or cost nothing…

around the house

Today I thought I’d show a few pictures around our house of a work in progress and one done.  I just started on this large canvas and I’ve been working on it in the dining room.  Where I work is always changing, usually to do with if the kids are home, or just my mood.  I love working on large paintings, something I hadn’t done until a little over a year ago.

This painting is at the top of our stairs.  It is of our kiddos and was one of the first larger paintings I did.

art wall

This weekend I decided to fill the wall above the kids’ craft table with their artwork.  A little less ambitious than my original plan of framing small portrions of about 50 or so of their pieces, but I wasn’t quite that motivated.  Hey, atleast now I feel a little less guilty about the mass unorganized piles of  their  art.

won’t you join me…

in my imaginary studio.  Here are some pictures of some lovely places and items that would be wonderful for a studio.  Soon, hopefully, I will share a few pics of my space.  It is a work in progress…
