Working on. Listening to.

I thought I’d start sharing on a regular basis what I am working on and what I am listening to while doing so.  I recently realized it’s when I’m listening to new music that I tend to be the most charged to make new work.  Makes sense I suppose.

So this week, I’ve been working on this very large painting (which incidentally started out as a floodline piece)

I have a show opening today in Beacon, NY at Blackbird Attic.  If you are in the area, stop by! Prints of these new paintings will be making their way to my etsy shop soon.

I just sent this group of little paintings and several framed prints off for an upcoming show.  This weekend was crazy busy, with several fun projects that had deadlines coming up, but I’m almost done!  Hope your week is off to a good start.

on motivating, making and enjoying

Sometimes I have to remind myself this when I’m dragging my feet to get down to my studio.  As silly as it sounds/is some days the hardest part is walking down the stairs and just STARTING.  After that, it comes together.  Maybe I should keep my coffee maker down there, that would do the trick!  How do you motivate yourself?

shop update!

I decided to set a date for my shop updates (I needed a deadline to give me a push).  So, Monday, October 1st I will be putting new work, originals and prints, in my etsy and floodline shops!  As it gets closer, I will post some of the pieces.

Hope you’re having a great start to your week!

I have grand plans for my ‘quiet’ week.  I’m not usually one to work late at night, but recently I have been loving the quiet nights around here.  So this week my evenings are going to be about making new work.  Here’s a sneak peak…

p.s. I haven’t been this excited about a new series of work in a long time (yay!)

Weekend

We dropped our daughter at sleep away camp yesterday and visiting family left, so the house is blissfully quiet.  The first quiet day this summer, really.  So last night I sat down and did a little project just for myself with some left over clay I bought the kids.  These little candle plates are so simple and easy and I loved the result.

Have a lovely weekend!

Oh, this weekend is going to be a good one.  We’re taking in our first Timbers game of the season (fingers crossed no rain), checking out the new Waffle window (precariously close to our house) and lots o painting.  I have my painting mojo back, I’m so excited to dive in!

Oh, and did you see the write ups on the Seattle Girl Crush Tea party (here and here)?  There are still spots left for the Portland one I’m hosting June 9!

a questionable spring

Spring in the northwest is a fickle friend.  It teases you and leads you on, breaks your heart and then redeems itself.  It’s also my favorite time of year here.  In the past few weeks we’ve had snow but also wonderful sunny days, with the usual rainy spells thrown in for good measure.

I did this (very  un-springlike painting) a few months back.  I was experimenting with creating an acrylic painting version of one of my floodline pieces.
