wise words

“The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up & get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part & a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you.”

I came across this Chuck Close quote on pinterest and thought it was a great inspiration for the new year.  I can get distracted with so many ideas of what I want to make, that I don’t stop and actually ‘make.’  This is good kick in the pants reminder to just stop and do.  Sounds simple, but one of my new year’s resolutions is to hold myself to painting every single day.

P.S. a veritable treasure of inspiration at Wisdom

I just came across your lovely work & blog (via Pinterest), and I am a huge new fan! I absolutely love our style. I just wanted to thank you for your inspiring work — I also love this quote, a good reminder to get out there and create!
